The Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen's Board was established in 1942 under the then British Government for the welfare of retired and serving members of the armed forces. After independence, since 1972, this organization has been conducting its activities under the name of 'Bangladesh Armed Forces Board'. Bangladesh Armed Services Board or BASB headquarters conducts activities across the country through various District Armed Services Boards or DASBs. At present DASB offices and 29 medical dispensaries are functioning in 20 districts of the country. Important activities of the board include welfare and rehabilitation, financial assistance, medical assistance to retirees, education scholarships for children/pets of armed forces personnel and assistance in getting pension of armed forces personnel.
